The staff of the Treehouse Inn are from the Amazon Rainforest of Manu National Park. All of us are born and raised in this Manu jungle area. We all are dedicated to wildlife conservation because our passion is the flora and fauna.

That’s why we care that no animals are hunted, no trees are cut and if ever possible no chemical products that will contaminate the soil and rivers are used. Since we ourselves are from the jungle, we feel familiar with the animals and plants.

DAY 1: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU

Early in the morning we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco’s historic centre. We will then be driving you to Pisac. Here we will be visiting the archaeological ruins that sit on top of a hill overlooking the valley.

Here we will be giving you a detailed tour. You will understand the significance of each site and the roles it played during Inca civilization.

We will then be driving you to the historic center of Pisac. This is also home to a traditional weekend market.

For lunch, we will be stopping at Urubamba. This is also referred to as the heart of the Sacred Valley of Incas. Primarily because of its central location.

After a typical Peruvian lunch, we will embark on a drive to Ollantaytambo. This is a beautiful village snuggled between two hills. Each of these hills houses Inca ruins. We will be visiting the ruins that have been significant to Incas.

This was a religious and a ceremonial centre that turned into a battle ground on Spanish invasion.

Once you have had your fill of these sites, we will be taking a tourist train from Ollantaytambo train station to Aguas Calientes along the Urubamba River, the gateway to Machu Picchu.

We will be accommodating you in a basic hostel for the night.

DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Early in the morning, we will be taking a bus from Aguas Calientes for your visit to Machu Picchu. Our local expert will be giving you a detailed guided tour for two hours. After the tour you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own.

If you have booked to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the respective entrance. Alternatively, you can also hike to the Sungate. It requires no prior booking and offers a spectacular view of the Inca citadel. This is the point of entrance of those on Inca Trail.

After the tour, we will be taking the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. Here we will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you on your arrival . We will be transferring you back to your hotel in Cusco.

DAY 3: CUSCO – MANU NATIONAL PARK

We will be reaching a high mountain viewpoint known as Ajanacu. From here you will get a jaw dropping view of the Amazon basin. Then we will descend to Manu National Park through the eastern slope.

As we will be reaching quite early, we will have enough time to explore the region before getting deeper into the jungle. On this brief stop, we will be touring the Manu cloud forest, a region rich with flora and fauna. Here we will also have the opportunity to spot the Peruvian national bird, Andean cock of the rock.

Later that afternoon, we will reach the boat pier. Here we will be embarking on a ride on a motor boat for two and a half hours and then change to a smaller boat called “Pekepeke”. It is named after the sound of its motor.

We will be sailing on this smaller boat for two hours on the Palotoa river to our Treehouse Inn. It is a unique place to stay in the heart of the Palotoa community. Fidel and his family built this place in a pristine area owned by the family.

On this boat ride we will have the opportunity to witness the rich flora and fauna of the region. You will also get to see river otters and other mammals. We will be spending the night in our treehouse in the heart of Manu National Park.

Day 4: PARROT MACAW CLAY LICK

We will be leaving the lodge at day break. Then we will be travelling to see the iconic Parrot and Macaw clay lick which is a unique sight. Different varieties of  parrots and macaws fly to ingest the clay that is found on the cliff.

The salt in the clay has a distinct salt that helps the macaws and parrots to detoxify the toxins they may have consumed from the seeds and fruits. After enjoying this, we will return to Treehouse Inn Amazon lodge for a typical Amazonian breakfast.

After breakfast, we will have a safari. We will be walking further deep into the lowland rainforest to spot Tapirs, Pecaris, Sloths, Pumas, different types of monkeys and other animals.

After lunch, we will be hiking to the other end of the treehouse. It is a region specifically prominent for animals and medicinal plants. Here our guide will be explaining the use and benefits of each plant.

We will then have some free time to take a dip in the fresh clear waters of the Palotoa river. Then we will be doing river tubing here.

After relishing a typical in-house Amazonian dinner, we will be doing night safari. You will be able to spot many nocturnal animals like rat Kalinowski, pygmy owls and more. We will also be spotting distinct spiders, snakes and tarantulas.
