Amongst the largest levels of biological variety on earth is the Amazon Rainforest. It is home to an abundance of endangered species like birds, animals, and insects. 

A portion of the wildlife and vegetation of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed by humans due to deforestation. However, the government of South America has taken several actions to protect the Amazon rainforest and the endangered species there.

#1. Golden Lion Tamarin

Golden lion tamarin is amongst the endangered species. The native Brazilian monkey species are a part of the golden lion tamarin. It weighs around 800 grams. This species has an extraordinarily strong orange tone mane and thus gets its name golden lion tamarin. 

In 1754, a Brazilian aboriginal monkey was taken to Madame Se Pompadour. Then this species got its name, little golden lion.

#2. Giant Otters 

The giant otter is one of the cutest species. It sustains largely on fish and thus it is easy to spot them by the side of water bodies passing through the forest. It can stand up to 1.7 meters tall and has sharp sights that help it to effortlessly point out the target floating in the water.

#3. White-Cheeked Spider Monkey

One of the species of the Amazon rainforest, the white-checked spider monkey is getting reduced in number. This is because of the deforestation for the construction of new roads or farming. If this continues, in near future we’ll not see the white-cheeked spider monkey swinging from one tree to another.

#4. Lazy Bear

The Lazy Bear is popular for its slowness. It focuses particularly on sleep and sleeps approximately for 20 hours daily. The bear walks at a speed of 0.24 and these features make it count among the unique endangered species. It has a body temperature ranging from 24°C to 33° C.

#5. Amazonian Jaguar

The endangered species Amazonian jaguar is the gigantic cat in its cat family. It lives in the Amazon rainforest and is 2.5 meters in length. They weigh around 120 kilos. It has a marked structure on its yellow pale tinted fur with various spots. The jaguar is a deserted animal and is a big swimmer. It also has nocturnal routines.
